Anniversary

Happy late mother's day everyone! I hope you all told your mommy how wonderful she is!

For an update, Elder Peterson is doing great! He was transferred a little while back and is now a senior companion. Woot! (He's such a great guy!) He's loving his mission and is still as nerdy as ever. He told me last week that he couldn't help but buy some fancy Lord of the Rings pez dispensers the other day lol. I also went out and bought a voice recorder last week. He sent me an email a few Mondays ago telling me that he misses hearing about all of the everyday things that go on in my life, and I'm always so busy that it's hard to write as often as I should, so I decided that this would be a good investment.
So, this post will be about a few different things, but the first thing is that mine and Elder Peterson's two year anniversary is less than a month away! :D June 8th to be exact! I'm so excited! It's weird because I can't believe it's been that long, but I also feel like I've known him my whole life, so it's hard to describe. Another happy thought for this anniversary, is that it's the last one that we'll spend apart! On our next anniversary we'll actually be together! I cannot even begin to describe to you how happy that thought makes me. So part of this blog today is to talk about gift ideas for events such as these. I've already got a few, but I could sure any ideas if any of you are willing to share.

Thus far I have gotten him three things; an American sign language "I love you" tie tack, an oil vial with a Christus on it, and a picture of the Savior so that I can write my testimony on the back. I know Elder Peterson has been talking a lot about needing to send stuff home because he has too many trinkets and such, so I've been trying to get him smaller more useful items that won't be so hard to lug around for two years (well, I guess it's one year now). That's pretty much all that I have thus far, of course I'll write him a letter to go along with it, and I'll make him a card, but it would be great to hear any more ideas that ya'll may have. I also had this idea, but it's going to have to wait until our next anniversary. I bought a journal, and starting on June 8th of this year, I'm going to write something about him everyday until the next June 8th. It will range from my thoughts of him that day to full out love letters. I wish a would have thought of this last year, but it's probably better that he get it when he's home.

Year mark!

Well ladies, the day has come, Elder Peterson's hump day was the 30th of March! AH! I'm so stinkin' excited! I love the feeling of being able to say "In a year from now..." Wow, so I'm not really putting any advice in this post, this is more of just some inner thoughts that I've been having lately.
So a little over a month ago my world kind of crash landed. I had vaguely mentioned a few things here or there to Elder Peterson, but not enough to let him know that anything big was going on. I figured that I didn't want to distract or worry him so I was avoiding telling him much. But as I started to overcome all of these trials, I noticed that I was changing, and I had this realization that if the next year of my life was as crazy as this past year, I was going to be a completely different person when he got home. It's the hard things in life that really change us and mold us into the people we are meant to become, and if I didn't share those things with him, he wouldn't know me when he got home. He even mentioned in a letter that he had a realization that he had no idea what was going on in my life. I know that if he were going through something hard I would want to know so that I could be a support to him and help him as much as I could. So, I decided to tell him everything, the good and the bad. Yup, so that was the thought that I had the other day...

Update and... Holy Moses it's almost been a year!!!

I am really terrible with keeping up with the blog, sorry ladies. To start things off, Elder Peterson has been gone for almost a year! It doesn't even feel like it's been that long! In a month from now I'll be counting down from a year. This is kind of mind blowing to me at the moment lol. I have to admit that as it gets closer it gets insanely hard for me to not pull out my roommate's bridal magazines (she's engaged btw). But that's beside the point, AH! A year! Okay, I think I'm done with my crazy rant now... Whew!

So valentines day was pretty great this year, surprisingly enough, I didn't sit at home and mope at all! Woots for Katy. Anywho, Elder Peterson sent me a package with some really cute things, and the sweetest letter in the entire world, I cried the entire time that I read it. I just love him so much! Ok lol sorry, I'm turning this into a gush fest.

Weeeell, I know it's a bit late, but lets talk about... Valentines day! (hopefully this blog will still be around next year anyway right?) It's the one holiday in the year that is completely and totally based off of mushiness, which is, let's face it, not the missionary gal's best friend. So how does one celebrate such a holiday without putting their missionary into a trunky coma for a few days? To be honest with you, I have NO IDEA! But let's give it the good ol' college try anyway shall we?

To start things off, might I recommend a letter. You may not know what his current candy craving is, but you can always guarantee that he'll love a letter. Now I don't know what level everyone is at with their missionaries and how much mush is too much mush for them, but we'll just go with a general mush level k?

So I think it's good to acknowledge the holiday and also your feelings for them. Now don't go writing them a novel about how deep and true your love is, but I think a paragraph or two ought to do the trick (please keep in mind this is just general), just to tell them that you care about them.

As far as little gifts go, just remember to stick with the rule that they should be able to use it while they're on their mission, and make sure it's not too big.
